Town of Nessebar

In the immediate vicinity of Sunny Beach visitors can see the village of Sveti Vlas, Elenite and the town of Nessebar. Nessebar borders Sunny Beach to the south. It was declared an architectural and archaeological reserve in 1956. In 1983, the city’s cultural monuments were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.с, Елените и град Несебър. The Archaeological Museum - Nessebar

The Archaeological Museum – Nessebar was established in 1956. It is included in the List of 100 national tourist sites and is ranked 6th in it. The exposition area of ​​the museum includes a lobby and four halls.

Ethnographic Museum

The aim of the Ethnographic Museum is to show, albeit partly, the great art of the Bulgarian woman. The house itself is two-storey, the ground floor is stone with a double door. Moskoyani’s house is one of the most interesting Revival monuments – a typical representative of Nessebar residential architecture from the late period of the Bulgarian Revival.

The architectural-historical and archeological reserve Ancient Nessebar

It is also included in the List of 100 national tourist sites (6th place). It covers the old part of Nessebar. Visitors even before entering the old part of the city can see the city gate with the remains of fortifications from the period IV-VI century. They were built on older foundations from 10 centuries ago (V-IV century BC).

Churches in Nessebar

– The Old Metropolis (“St. Sophia”) – built in the fifth or sixth century. It is a three-nave basilica;
– The Church of John the Baptist – from the tenth to the eleventh century with architecture between the basilica and the cross-domed church;
– The new metropolis (“St. Stephen”) – is believed to be from the tenth or eleventh century. The frescoes in it are very well preserved. Visitors can see the majestic medieval columns, slabs, inscriptions and capitals, as well as the exterior decoration, which consists of clay cups;
– The church “St. Todor ”- it is from the thirteenth century. Unfortunately, only the north and west sides of the temple are preserved;
– The church “St. John Aliturgitos ”- from the thirteenth to the fourteenth century. The temple is incredibly beautiful;
– The Pantocrator Church – it is also from the thirteenth or fourteenth century. It is also a very well preserved medieval church;
– The church “St. Archangels Michael and Gabriel ”- it is again from the thirteenth or fourteenth century. Visitors can see the exterior walls, which are impressive with their ornaments;
– The church “St. Paraskeva ”- also from the thirteenth or fourteenth century;
– The church “St. Spas ”- with quite well preserved frescoes from the fifteenth century.

Kamchia Biosphere Reserve

Kamchia Biosphere Reserve is located near the holiday village of Elenite. It is located in the area “Kamchiyski sands”, located on the river Kamchia (downstream). In the reserve, visitors can see a variety of vegetation, including forests of summer oak, wild pear, alder, white poplar, elm, ash and more. There are about 200 species of birds in the reserve, as well as many different species of fish.

The resort village of Saint Vlas

The resort village of Sveti Vlas is located near Sunny Beach in a northerly direction. It is a fairly fast-growing village with conditions for recreation and tourism.
